The County Clerk is responsible for all voter registration activities in Greene County. There are more than 180,000 people registered to vote in Greene County.

Register to Vote

By Mail

To register to vote by mail, your voter registration application must be postmarked by the fourth Wednesday before the election in order to be eligible in that election.

In Person

Visit our office in the Historic Courthouse in Springfield to register to vote. There are several locations throughout Greene County designated as permanent voter registration sites, including any branch of the Springfield-Greene County Library, schools, colleges and universities, and city offices.

Accessibility

The Greene County Clerk's Office administers and conducts all elections to be free, fair, and secure to all registered voters in Greene County, including voters with disabilities.

The Americans with Disabilities Act and the Help America Vote Act ensure voters have the right to access tools to vote privately and independently, such as:

  • Bipartisan election judge team assisting the voter with marking the ballot
  • Curbside Voting
  • ExpressVote (ADA-compliant Ballot Marking Device)

Every polling location has curbside voting available for those voters that are unable to go inside the location. Clearly marked signage with contact information to the polling location is posted at each location prior to Election Day. Curbside Voting is also available during the six week Absentee Voting period at the Elections Center.

Absentee Voting

Absentee voting begins 6 weeks prior to an election, both in-person and by mail, for registered voters that qualify under the legal reasons outlined on the application. No excuse in-person absentee voting begins two weeks prior to each election. In-person absentee voting ends the Monday prior to the Election at 5pm. All absentee ballots must by received by 7pm in order to the counted.

Absentee Voting Legal Reasons

  • Absence on Election Day from the jurisdiction of the election authority in which I am registered
  • Incapacity or confinement due to illness or physical disability on election day, including caring for a person who is incapacitated or confined due to illness or physical disability and resides at the same address
  • Religious belief or practice
  • Employment as an election authority or by an election authority at a location other than my polling place, a first responder, a health care worker, or a member of law enforcement
  • Incarceration, although I have retained all the necessary qualifications for voting
  • Certified participation in the address confidentiality program established under sections 589.660 to 589.681 because of safety concerns;

Permanent Disabled Application

Permanently disabled voters that wish to receive a notice of election prior to every election that they are eligible for can be placed on the Permanent Disabled Voter List by completing and submitting the application below.

Military & Overseas Application

Active members of the United States Uniformed Services, National Guard, Federal Services, military, their spouses or dependents (stationed in the United States or overseas), and overseas US citizens are eligible to access the secure Missouri Secretary of State's Office website to register to vote, request, receive and transmit (if applicable) their absentee ballot.

Voting Locations

Greene County has 75 assigned polling locations throughout the county for Election Day.

In addition, Greene County has 5 central polling locations designed for any Greene County registered voter to vote at on Election Day.
